Phishing is a cyber crime in which a target or targets are contacted by email, telephone, or text message by someone posing as a legitimate institution to lure individuals into providing sensitive data, such as personally identifiable information, banking and credit card details, and passwords.
The information is then used to access important accounts and can result in identity theft and financial loss.
How we can help
We will work with clients to run a phishing scam simulation to determine how many employees fell for the scam and who clicked the email. This allows the business to determine what employees need training on how to spot phishing scams. This is also a great way for businesses to realize how easy it is for employees to fall victim to these scams so that they can provide additional training to their team.
Basically, bad guys are using phishing attacks to target users and trick them into revealing sensitive information so that they can steal and use the information.
There are various phishing techniques used by attackers:
Embedding a link in an email that redirects your employee to an unsecured website that requests sensitive information
Installing a Trojan via a malicious email attachment or ad that allows the intruder to exploit loopholes and obtain sensitive information
Spoofing the sender address in an email to appear as a reputable source and request sensitive information
Attempting to obtain company information over the phone by impersonating a known company vendor or IT department
